Today is the 31st of October 2016 and to think that 2016 is nearly over makes me pause and reflect on my various achievements this year. There are two months left of 2016 and I don’t know about you but I intend to make them count. You may have composed a list of things to achieve this year and I hope you have achieved the majority, if not all. Nonetheless do you realise that every day that you are blessed with, is another opportunity to start again. Why do we like to wait for the cliché times of the year to achieve certain things? To be quite frank continuing down that path is a waste of time, literally! The fact that you are alive today should not be taken for granted, use your time wisely to pursue your dreams.
If you follow me on social media you will have seen that I have just finished attending my church’s annual convention which lasted for seven days. It is only by God’s grace that I was able to attend each and every day after completing a full day of work, which was tiring to say the least. I learnt so much during these past seven days, and two of those lessons that I want to share with you is the power in your spoken word and your ability to be thankful above all trials and circumstances. It is much easier to recount everything that is going wrong in life but what about the things that are going well that you take for granted?
You hate your job, ok but your employed and receive a salary every month which allows you to put a roof over you and your family’s head. I’m not saying that you should not advance yourself and aim higher, but what I want to point out is that we must be careful about our instinctive groaning’s. Let’s rephrase things to open space for change and abundance in our lives. For example, as a woman of faith I would be more inclined to say something along the lines of Lord, I’m grateful that I am employed and I receive a salary each month. Lord create opportunities and open doors that will allow me to fulfil my purpose and move from my current employment to becoming a (fill in the blank). Do you see the difference? Become accustomed to viewing your life through eyes of gratitude and not complaint.
For the past month I’ve been considering making a vision board and today I’ve started with writing the affirmations that will be attached to this vision. You see we all have visions of our ideal life and having a vision board helps maintain our focus if we have that vision readily available and we see it daily. I plan on making two, one for my journal and one that will be on my bedroom wall. I did attempt this once before on Pintrest however, the reality was I don’t visit Pintrest that often and the vision board has only been looked at on a few occasions since 2014. Your vision board is important and personal to you and your dreams, I can’t tell you what to include but visualisation and words of affirmation have been proven to be successful when used consistently.
Vision boards will help you with clarity and focus, I encourage you consider making one as we prepare to go into a new year. Shut down those limiting beliefs that hide in the secret places of your mind. Enough is enough you deserve to live the life you have dreamt of but it all starts with you and your vision. Be bold by expanding your vision, don’t limit yourself to the realms of what your mind can conceive, aim high and the opportunities to reach goals that you never thought were possible will become available. Feed your mind with the big possibilities of life, read success stories of those who have walked the path before you and above all don’t forget to BELIEVE!
2 And the Lord answered me:
“Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 (ESV)
